🎥 Gen Jam AI Filmmaking Sprint! (Thurs 5/29)

Our friends from the decentralized AI artist collective Machine Cinema are organizing a Gen Jam at AI on the Lot on Thursday May 29th. What’s a “Gen Jam” you might ask? A Gen Jam is a fast-paced filmmaking sprint where strangers team up to make a film in a few hours using AI tools. The point of a Gen Jam is to have fun and learn by doing. No matter your skill level (beginner or expert), you’re welcome. Just bring a laptop!

All participants of the Gen Jam will be given free credits for AI tools such as Luma, Kling, and Topaz Starlight so you can gen and jam without paywalls.

To participate in the Gen Jam, you must register beforehand! You can register here.

  • When: Thursday, May 29th from 2-5pm.

Will there be people there to teach us at all? I haven’t used all of these tools before.

There will be a sizable staff of friendly docents in the area (second floor of Culver Labs) who are knowledgeable about all the latest gen AI tools. In addition, the Gen Jam will start with a brief primer on the tools and your teammates will likely know things and be able to help. The Gen Jam is designed to be very beginner-friendly, so I wouldn’t worry!

How are teams made? Are they random or can I bring my own team?

You can either show up in a team of 3 or 4, (ideally at least one of you has basic editing skills on CapCut or other), and always good to have at least one GenAI ninja among you but not necessary!

Yes! Machine Cinema will share an initial tutorial, offer you a cheat sheet and we’ll have team members on staff to help everyone
