Which AI video models have the most funding/money?

The Model wars are raging on. Now that Sora is released, it’s being compared to every other available model. It’s interesting to think about who has the most resources to put into heir model. Here’s a really good video breakdown of which video models have the most cash, GPUs, and resources.

The highlights are…

OpenAI
Raised 6.6 billion recently with $4 billion credit line. So it has ~$10 billion.
Unclear how much of OpenAI’s will go into Sora.

Runway
Has raised $140 million last June.
Raising $450 million (potentially).

Pika Labs
Raised $80 million recently.

Luma
Raised $43 million. They’ve been batting well above their weight compared to the others!

MiniMax (Hailuo)
Raised $600 million led by Alibaba

Kuoaishou (Kling model)
Raised $5.4 billion via IPO
Not clear how much will divert into Kling

Meta
Has more money than God! But video model doesnt seem to be a priority for them

Another interesting questions is who has all the GPUs?

Meta & Microsoft have by far the most. And then many other companies which are not making video models.

Deep pockets don’t guarantee success. Especially in AI model training where cutting-edge research developments are open-sourced months later.

IMO it’s a mistake to focus on money + gpu. Focus on who has the best training data. It’s Meta and Google. Meta has Instagram/FB. Google has YouTube.

Those are your winners. For my money at least. And on top of that, they also have the most money. But that’s not why their video models will outpace the others.
